About The Position

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is seeking a Research Associate 1 to work temporarily on-site full time in Miami, FL. The Research Associate 1 supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research. Candidate will study mitochondrial bioenergetics and the function of respiratory super complexes in the yeast S. cerevisiae. The work will mainly involve performing experimental research using a variety of techniques in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology and report and discuss results to the Principal Investigator. Candidate will be required to keeping records of all experiments and results. Additional responsibilities include general laboratory maintenance such as preparation of stock solutions and reagents and maintenance of common laboratory work areas when needed.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.

Applicants should have high motivation towards scientific research, fluency in English and be familiar with basic biochemistry and molecular biology techniques such as isolation and preparation of RNA and DNA, PCR and molecular cloning, SDS gel electrophoresis and Western blotting.

Keeping records of all experiments and results.
General laboratory maintenance such as preparation of stock solutions and reagents and maintenance of common laboratory work areas when needed.
