About The Position

The University of Miami's College of Arts and Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Research Associate 1 to work in Coral Gables, FL. The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a motivated, full-time Project Coordinator (Research Associate I) to support research activities under the direction of principal investigator Spencer Evans, PhD. This position will play a central role in a new foundation-funded study examining children’s screen use, transition behavior, and mental health outcomes, while also supporting the lab’s broader research program focused on youth irritability and developmental psychopathology. A two-year commitment is strongly preferred. The Research Associate 1, GAB supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field (e.g., neuroscience, human development, public health)
  • Experience working with children, caregivers, and diverse populations (required)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of prior relevant research experience (preferred)
  • Experience with intensive-longitudinal or real-time research methodologies (preferred)
  • Experience with digital, behavioral, and/or physiological data collection (preferred)
  • Familiarity with software used for data collection (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap, mPath) and analysis (e.g., R, SPSS) (preferred)
  • Spanish-English bilingual proficiency (preferred)
  • Ideal for recent graduates planning to apply to PhD programs in clinical psychology or related fields

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day study activities including participant recruitment, screening, scheduling, onboarding, and retention
  • Assist in administering multimodal baseline assessments to children and caregivers (e.g., behavioral tasks, surveys, interviews, and physiological data collection)
  • Manage intensive-longitudinal and follow-up data collection protocols (e.g., EMA, smartphone-based audio recordings, wearable devices, surveys)
  • Support data organization, quality assurance, documentation, and data security
  • Assist with IRB submissions, amendments, and regulatory compliance
  • Support local and national recruitment and community engagement efforts
  • Provide general administrative and research support as needed
