About The Position

Texas Oncology is seeking a Research Assistant to join their team, supporting the Central Austin and Austin Midtown locations. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm, with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The role can be filled at either a Level 1 or Sr level, depending on the candidate's experience. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, with approximately 600+ providers across 220+ sites in Texas and southeastern Oklahoma, dedicated to making high-quality cancer care accessible. The Research Assistant will operate under direct supervision, initiating and maintaining accurate logs for patients participating in clinical research. Key responsibilities include collecting patient data from initial contact through therapy and long-term follow-up, and performing all clerical and administrative data management functions for the department. The position may also involve assisting with direct patient care, laboratory services, and managing supplies related to Clinical Research, while ensuring adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year medical office experience
  • Experience in Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Experience with computer data entry and database management preferred.
  • Three years of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient data files in an organized manner for easy retrieval and review.
  • Collects patient data from initial patient contact through course of therapy, rehabilitation, and long-term care.
  • Assists with scheduling consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, and future appointments for patients with physicians as requested.
  • Prepares patient records for audits by regulatory, accrediting, and research organizations.
  • Maintains supplies, drugs and storage facilities for clinical research as appropriate.
  • May enter some pertinent data in computer system in a timely manner as outlined by department guidelines.
  • May assist physicians and nurses with direct patient care including vital signs and assisting in procedures.
  • May assist with collecting and processing specimens for research purposes.
