WashU Medicine Division of Endocrinology has an opening for a Research Assistant (Gap Year) to join the Millman lab. This biomedical research laboratory uses human pluripotent stem cells for the study and treatment of diabetes, with projects involving stem cell differentiation, genetic engineering with CRISPR, disease modeling, transplantation into animal models of diabetes, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, and single-cell sequencing technologies. The role involves assisting with various aspects of the research process in a laboratory setting under the direction of the PI and/or experienced laboratory personnel to gain experience for future career opportunities. Guided activities may include literature review, initial research for experimental opportunities, experimental design, execution of experiments and troubleshooting, data collection and analysis, and communication/presentation of results. This position is ideal for those interested in a gap year(s) to acquire new research skills.
