About The Position

Gathers, organizes and analyzes data through interviews, literature searches, surveys and other methods for use in studies, publications and other research related uses. Coordinates data collection activities with project managers and community sites where data is to be collected. Supports the execution of research projects with various tasks. This position is in the Community-Engaged Health Promotion through Dissemination & Implementation Science Research lab in the Health and Kinesiology Department. Projects will focus on a range of studies that test strategies to speed the translation of evidence-based interventions into community and clinical practice. Our work is embedded within community settings and include projects related to childhood obesity treatment in rural settings, diabetes prevention for underserved and underrepresented populations, obesity prevention with indigenous communities, and reducing sedentary behaviors in workplaces. Ultimately our goal is to design and disseminate health promotion interventions with broad reach to effectively improve and maintain improvements in health and can be adopted, implemented, and sustained in communities. This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Requirements

  • EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
  • Research Assistant, I: Requires little to no related experience.
  • Research Assistant, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Consents eligible participants for research studies
  • Collects and compiles data from a variety of sources; may enter data into a PC or computer terminal
  • Supports community partners with implementation of research protocols
  • Analyzes data using qualitative methods or descriptive statistics
  • May create charts, tables, or other visual representations appropriate to the dataset
  • May edit research papers, project reports, proposals and curriculum materials prior to publication or presentation
  • Prepares format for final disposition of data; maintains an internal library on project information resources and final data collected
  • May work with research personnel in the design and preparation of research projects and in recording data
  • May prepare IRB materials, amendments, or continuing reviews
  • Send and monitor opt out responses to eligible families
  • Direct observations of Building Healthy Families sessions
  • Support the CITs with recruitment protocol and active outreach
  • Support project activities as needed
  • Make phone calls to participants who have finished the program to collect post-intervention data
  • Maintain accurate documentation of calls and summaries of call outcomes
  • Coordinate between the KINES 2500 course, wellness bus, and program sites to ensure the program runs smoothly
  • Train incoming KINES 2500 students to facilitate the program
  • Consent participants

  • Perform direct observations of physical activity sessions
  • Collect program data as needed
  • Contribute to the creation of resources for the Wellness Bus and other community facing programs
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis for ongoing and future projects
  • Support annual survey data collection and analysis
  • Monitor partner survey submissions throughout the year
  • Support quarterly meeting planning and preparation
  • Support seed grant coordination; submission process, fielding questions, managing reviews, communicating with grantees, gathering reports, etc.
  • Coordinate college of health workshops for campus visits
  • Support the activities of the RE-AIM workgroup including logistic and support of group events
