Carnegie Mellon’s Department of Chemical Engineering (CHEG) is seeking a part-time Research Assistants for the Jen and Gordon research labs. In this role, the ideal candidate will provide support on multiple research projects, gathering data and training students. This is a fixed-term position of up to 8 months and is inclusive of competitive salary and benefits. Adaptability, excellence, and passion are vital qualities within Carnegie Mellon University. We are in search of a team member who can effectively interact with a varied population of internal and external partners at a high level of integrity. Requirements

  • Experience in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • A strong research record including academic experience.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and creative, enjoys working in a collaborative research environment
  • Successful background check

Responsibilities

  • Follows research plans in order to collect, record, and manipulate research data.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.
  • May test software prototypes.
  • May interact with research subjects in order to perform job functions.
  • Performs basic data analysis in order to product reports.
  • Documents results and processes.
  • Performs library research and field explorations.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
