About The Position

Are you interested in getting involved in research that makes a difference? The Suicide Prevention Research in the Community Lab (SPRCL), is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to join our team. We are a multi-disciplinary research team based in the Department of Psychiatry and affiliated with the Youth and Young Adult Depression and Suicide Prevention Research Team as well as UM's Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention. Our team conducts community-engaged research and program evaluation in a collaborative and supportive work environment. The research assistant will provide research support to the federally-funded program, Transforming Youth Suicide Prevention in Michigan (TYSP). TYSP seeks to impact rates of youth/young adult suicide through developing and sustaining unique partnerships that facilitate the implementation and evaluation of best practice suicide prevention and intervention strategies across youth-serving organizations. The research assistant will work closely with the Project Manager and support the day-to-day operations of the project. The candidate should be able to work independently and within a team, have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate excellent organization, time management and attention to detail. This position is located in Ann Arbor with hybrid options available. Opportunities to participate in grant writing and scholarly dissemination projects are available. Why Join Michigan Medicine? Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess working knowledge with standard computer software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Previous clinical research experience, clinic/hospital work or volunteer experience, and knowledge of the research process.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of evaluation protocols including survey development and distribution, data collection, coding/scoring, data entry, and database management.
  • Track, enter, monitor, and follow-up on data collection using a variety of software systems and tracking spreadsheets.
  • Assist the data manager with data management and data processing.
  • Assist with scholarly/dissemination tasks (e.g. literature searches, presentations, manuscript preparation, graph/chart creation).
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings with statewide community partners.
  • Assist with the completion and maintenance of IRB applications and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual reports (e.g. writing, basic data analysis).
  • Responsible for procurement processes.
  • Request, monitor, and distribute participant incentives.
  • Provide other administrative support as required (meeting minutes, scheduling meetings, etc.)
  • May serve as the point of contact for undergraduate research staff/volunteers.
