About The Position

As one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, the Texas A&M University Health Science Center encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education, innovative research and team-based health care delivery. The School of Pharmacy is looking for a Research Assistant to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
  • Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Intensively participates in data analysis and preliminary data collection through accurately following experimental protocols (e.g., cell culture, PCR, ELISA, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, mice behavioral study).
  • Compiles data files set from research teams.
  • Collects, interprets, and analyzes data, compiles results, prepares reports, and presents their conclusions.
  • Maintains mouse colony in the vivarium, performs surgery on the xenograft mice, conducts behavioral test on mice, generates preliminary data for the lung cancer project and Alzheimer’s disease projects.
  • Participates in poster and podium presentation of the collected results.
  • Under the supervision of PI, organizes the professional collaboration between the pharmacy/graduate students and the lab team member.
  • Helps train new lab members or undergraduate students and graduate students on techniques and safety protocols.
  • Ships laboratory agents for analysis.
  • Works collaboratively with undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs, and PIs.
  • Attends and contributes to lab meetings and discussions.
