About The Position

The Research Assistant supports the design, implementation, and analysis of research projects within a social science or public health context. This role involves coordinating study activities, collecting and managing data, supporting qualitative and mixed-methods analysis, and contributing to written research outputs. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a research-focused social science field such as public health, sociology, psychology, or related discipline.
  • One year of experience working in a similar research capacity.
  • Experience with qualitative research or mixed-methods preferred.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • A writing sample must be submitted with the application or resume.
  • Experience working in Microsoft Word and Excel, NVivo, Dedoose, R, Power BI, and/or Tableau is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or conducting qualitative interviews or focus groups.
  • Familiarity with qualitative analysis software such as NVivo, Dedoose, or Atlas.ti.
  • Experience with survey platforms or statistical software such as Qualtrics, SPSS, Stata, or R.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research design and study planning.
  • Coordinate research activities, including scheduling interviews, focus groups, or surveys.
  • Support Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and compliance documentation as needed.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Support qualitative interviews, focus groups, and surveys.
  • Support mixed-methods data collection efforts.
  • Clean, organize, and manage datasets using appropriate software.
  • Ensure confidentiality and ethical handling of research data.
  • Assist with qualitative coding and thematic analysis.
  • Support quantitative or mixed-methods analysis as appropriate.
  • Prepare summaries, tables, and visualizations of findings.
  • Draft literature reviews, research summaries, and sections of reports or manuscripts.
  • Contribute to proposals, presentations, and publications.
  • Edit and proofread research materials for clarity and accuracy.
  • Track project timelines and deliverables.
  • Communicate with study participants and community partners as needed.
  • Support dissemination activities such as presentations and stakeholder briefings.
