About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, and home to Baystate Rehabilitation, a comprehensive rehab program providing services throughout western Massachusetts is looking for a full time Research Assistant to join our team in Springfield, MA. The Department of Healthcare Delivery and Population Sciences at Baystate Medical Center is hiring a Research Assistant with a degree in kinesiology, psychology, or public health-related field; experience in human subjects research is preferred. The successful candidate will work with non-invasive cardiologist expert Dr. Quinn Pack on his NIH clinical trials. All current funded projects aim to implement healthcare interventions to improve patient outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for a bachelors, or recent master degree looking for hands-on experience with NIH grants, increase one's clinical experience or looking to add new skills and challenge themselves. Successful candidates will bring their strengths to work with a supportive, skilled, and collaborative team to implement the ongoing clinical trials. The successful candidate will be working primarily on the Ambulation trial Baystate medical Center. This trial examines the implementation of ambulation in hospitalized patients in an effort to improve heath care outcomes and reduce hospital stays. Candidates will learn about 6 Clicks and short performance physical battery as part of the assessment tools used in the study. Your duties include helping the research team screen, recruit, schedule, and enroll participants into the trial at Baystate Medical Center. The candidate may also support and may help with data validation on the PACE SETTER clinical trial or with the STOP-NPT3 smoking cessation implementation trial For more information about these trials, see reporter.NIH.gov and search using the grant number. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist with promoting healthy behaviors after a m event requiring hospitalization. This position is grant funded through 2027. The successful candidate will be based in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts at Baystate Medical Center; this position is not remote.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Basic understanding of data collection and research principles preferred

Responsibilities

  • Works under close supervision and in accordance with specified and detailed instructions.
  • Able to handle some non-routine situations, but Supervisor /Investigator available to handle most, and review progress of work
  • Performs variety of routine duties, tests, and procedures to assist investigators and other research staff in the collection, verification, and compilation of research information.
  • Contributes to and maintains study and patient files in a highly organized manner.
  • Secures study and patient files to ensure confidentiality. Collect data according to structured guidelines. Records & Organizes results. Reports unusual findings to supervisor.
  • Perform actual study tasks under supervision. Perform study tasks in accordance with BMC policies and federal and state regulations.
