About The Position

The Research Assistant will work closely with scientists and technical staff to ensure the proper care of laboratory animals while supporting study execution in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations and company procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in preclinical research, laboratory animal science, or careers in biotechnology and pharmaceutical development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 0–2 years of experience in a laboratory animal facility or research environment
  • Basic knowledge of animal handling or husbandry practices
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and laboratory procedures
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and routine computer tasks
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Animal Science, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor laboratory animals for general health, wellbeing, and clinical observations
  • Handle, restrain, and provide routine care for multiple species of laboratory animals
  • Support perioperative care including pre- and post-procedure monitoring
  • Maintain accurate records of body weights, fasting status, and clinical observations
  • Ensure animal care activities follow institutional guidelines and regulatory standards
  • Assist with collection and processing of biological samples including blood, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
  • Support study preparation activities including room setup and sample labeling
  • Participate in necropsy procedures and related study activities as required
  • Assist with form preparation, instrument cleaning, and autoclaving
  • Serve as a scribe during study procedures when required
  • Maintain operating room (OR) supplies, cleaning, and organization
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining stock levels
  • Receive, store, and ship client equipment and study materials
  • Learn to operate and troubleshoot medical device equipment used during studies
  • Assist with animal intake, receiving, and colony census tracking
  • Perform weekend or late-night health rounds when required
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support study operations
