About The Position

Texas A&M AgriLife is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive agriculture program, comprising Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University, Texas A&M Forest Service, and Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. With over 5,000 employees across the state, it aims to improve lives, environments, and the Texas economy through education, research, extension, and service. The Research Assistant position involves 80% protein expression and purification in bacterial, insect cell, or human cell systems, along with cell-based assays like luciferase reporter assays and western blot. Additionally, 15% of the role is dedicated to ordering reagents and supplies for the lab, and 5% to other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Biochemistry or closely related field.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.

  • Some experience of research in life science.

Responsibilities

  • Protein expression and purification in bacterial, insect cell or human cell.
  • Cell based assays such as luciferase reporter assays, western blot, are also expected.
  • Ordering reagents and supplies for the lab.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
