The University Engineering Imaging Laboratory (UEIL) is seeking a Research Assistant (RA)/Technician for a one-year grant-funded position. The RA will play a crucial role in supporting the laboratory's day-to-day technical tasks, which are essential for advancing research in the field of biomedical engineering. The primary responsibilities will include maintaining breeding colonies of small animals, conducting behavioral assays, performing perfusions, and processing tissue samples for immunohistochemistry. Additionally, the RA will be involved in microscopy and sample preparation for various molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, RNA sequencing, and spatial sequencing. The role also encompasses histochemical and biochemical assays, ensuring that the laboratory maintains high standards of safety and compliance with regulatory training requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in neuroscience or molecular biology, with a proven history of working with small animals in a laboratory setting. This position offers significant potential for professional growth and is particularly suited for recent graduates who are considering further studies in graduate programs or medical professions. The UEIL, led by Dr. Konofagou, focuses on translational science, utilizing ultrasound technology for real-time imaging and therapeutic applications in treating neurodegenerative disorders.
