About The Position

The United States Institute of Peace (USIP) is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) for its Public Engagement (PE) department within the Center for Civic Engagement and Scholarship. This role is pivotal in supporting the Institute's mission to enhance public awareness of peacebuilding efforts and to engage diverse domestic audiences across the United States. The PE department acts as the 'front door' of USIP, facilitating outreach and educational initiatives that align with the Institute's commitment to peace and security. The RA will conduct research to identify new avenues for outreach, assist in tracking and expanding USIP's contacts, and support various public engagement initiatives, including programs aimed at K-12 audiences and events like the 2025 Peace Day Challenge. The position requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks effectively while demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills. The RA will be responsible for updating databases, mapping connections, and providing support for existing initiatives. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact in the world and eager to contribute to the mission of USIP. The expected work schedule is 20 hours per week, with a pay range of $17.50 to $18.50 per hour, and the anticipated start date is September 2024.
