About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University seeks a highly motivated and academically driven individual to join the Research Tenure Track as a Research Assistant Professor. This faculty position is ideal for a scientist with a strong background in clinical emergency medicine and a growing record of impactful research. Requirements

  • Advanced research training (e.g., MPH, MS, PhD, or comparable experience)
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania
  • Demonstrated excellence in clinical emergency medicine practice
  • A clear trajectory of scholarly productivity and potential for external funding
  • Experience or interest in mentoring, team science, and academic collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct independent, externally funded clinical or translational research in a relevant area (e.g., health services research, emergency systems, disparities, informatics, implementation science)
  • Publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences
  • Secure extramural funding (NIH, AHRQ, DoD, PCORI, foundations)
  • Mentor trainees and junior faculty on research design and career development
  • Collaborate across departments, centers, and research institutes at Jefferson and beyond
  • Engage in quality improvement, safety, and innovation initiatives across the department
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment that includes residents, medical students, nurses, and subspecialists
  • Participate in clinical teaching of residents and medical students
