The Psychophysiology Lab for Affective Neuroscience ( PLAN ; https://artsandsciences.utulsa.edu/psychophys/ ) in the University of Tulsa’s Department of Psychology seeks candidates for a 2 full-time Research Assistant Professors ( RAP ) who will report to the director of the lab (Jamie Rhudy, PhD). Each position comes with salary, benefits, research space, and startup funds. Successful candidates will spend 25% of their time working on an NIH / NCCIH funded project that investigates the role of structural racism and discrimination ( SRD ) in the Native American chronic pain inequity. The remaining 75% of time will be spent developing their own successful line of research and stream of external funding under the umbrella of a new initiative to develop a center to combat health inequities. The RAPs will work closely with Dr. Jamie Rhudy (PI), Co-Is (Joanna Shadlow, PhD, Travis Lowe, PhD), and other PLAN researchers. Advanced training will be provided in psychophysiological assessment of stress and pain (e.g., EEG , EMG , EKG , respiration, skin conductance), quantitative sensory testing (e.g., temporal summation, conditioned pain modulation, contact heat evoked potentials), as well as blood (HbA1c, hs- CRP , lipids) and salivary (cortisol) biomarkers of allostatic load. The RAPs have the option of being involved with all aspects of the NIH -funded study. The project is approved by the University of Tulsa, Cherokee Nation, and Indian Health Service-Oklahoma City area office IRBs. There will be ample opportunities for authorship/co-authorship on presentations and publications from PLAN projects, as well as opportunities to teach and mentor.
