About The Position

The Research Assistant Professor/Senior Program Manager for Health Services & Community Engagement designs, scales, and evaluates initiatives that improve access, quality, and health outcomes in the community. The role blends program research/scholarly work with strategic leadership, partnership development, data-driven improvement, and community-based participatory approaches to advance health outcome across screening, prevention, disease management, and navigation services. This is a Grant Funded position.

Requirements

  • Terminal Doctoral degree in public health, allied health or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) with active license in the state of Texas (if applicable) in good standing.
  • Demonstrated skills in computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft outlook, Teams, office 365).

  • Travel locally, regionally and nationally to community engagement and outreach events, programs, activities or conferences related to job function with cost reimbursable under grant funding.
  • Five plus (5+) years directly relevant experience including two plus (2+) years leading health programs, care coordination, community outreach, or population health initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment system.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional training or certification in public health or related fields is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience (hiring, coaching, performance management) preferred.
  • Grant writing/management experience; prior success with public or foundation funding preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Co-directs Health Services & Community Engagement research initiatives (e.g., pragmatic trials, implementation science, health services research, community engaged & CBPR methods, real-world evidence).
  • Prepares, submits, and leads competitive grants (NIH/PCORI/CDC/HRSA/CPRIT/foundation) and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Define goals and program deliverables; monitor reach, uptake, time-to-resolution, and outcomes.
  • Coordinate IRB submissions; support pragmatic evaluations, grant reporting, and budget management.
  • Teach undergrad/graduate/health-professional courses (e.g., Health promotions, Community-Engaged Research, Implementation Science, Intro to Biostatistics/Data Management).
  • Mentor students, residents/fellows, and junior scholars; supervises and advise capstones and theses.
  • Supervises staff and team members.
  • Build and steward partnerships with FQHCs, CBOs, faith organizations, schools, and public health agencies.
  • Establish and facilitate Community Advisory Boards; co-design initiatives using CBPR principles.
  • Represent the organization in coalitions; negotiate MOUs and data-sharing agreements.
  • Implements and manages community engagement and Health Service initiatives (e.g., screening & prevention, chronic disease, navigation, mobile/outreach).
  • Create SOPs, referral pathways, closed-loop follow-up, and program workflows.
  • Integrate culturally and linguistically appropriate education in community engagement and Health Service initiatives.
  • Supervise coordinators/navigators; set goals, coach performance, and build professional development plans.
  • Oversee scheduling, supply management, and logistics for community events.
