About The Position

The Research Assistant in the Department of Pathology will contribute to ongoing research by performing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and assisting with the preparation of reports and publications. This position provides hands-on experience in understanding the mechanisms of normal and abnormal blood coagulation, inflammation and vascular biology, and elucidating the pathogenesis of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TPP), while working closely with faculty and research team members to ensure adherence to study protocols and the accuracy of research data.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Support Assist with setup, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of lab equipment and materials. Support preparation and execution of experiments and sample collection. Record observations and ensure proper labeling, storage, and data backup. Maintain lab cleanliness and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Research Operations & Logistics Assist with study setup, daily operations, ADAMTS13 billing, and project follow-ups. Prepare and organize study materials, including packets, forms, and documentation. Schedule study-related activities and help manage project timelines. Maintain inventory of study supplies and support ordering processes.
  • Data Entry & Documentation Collect, enter, and maintain data in electronic and paper-based systems. Conduct statistical analyses of data sets. Review research documents, such as protocols, data collection forms, Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation, abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts. Ensure proper documentation and organization of study records, project binders, and data collection forms. Assist with maintaining compliance with institutional and project guidelines.
  • Administration & Compliance Prepare documentation for audits, reviews, or sponsor site visits. Track study milestones, recruitment status, and project progress. Maintain study logs and organize project-related correspondence. Support the Pathology Research and Grants Office team in coordinating meetings, taking minutes, processing reimbursements, and preparing reports.
