About The Position

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full Time Research Assistant – Basic Science to support the ovarian cancer research lab! This position will work Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. Hours are subject to change based on business needs. The laboratory studies a population of inherently therapy resistant ‘quiescent’ cancer cells which are a primary driver of disease recurrence and death. These quiescent cells can not only increase chemotherapy resistance in neighboring cancer cells but also inactivate anti-tumor immune responses with the combined effect to drive cancer recurrence and growth. This lab is developing new therapies to selectively target these quiescent cells to prevent ovarian cancer deaths. This position is grant funded. The Research Assistant will be responsible for performing experiments as outlined in the protocol including solution and sample preparation, conducting experiment, operating analytical instrument, record keeping, data analysis and report generation.
