About The Position

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people's lives. The McDermott/Mahoney Lab at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated full-time technician to support research on immune evasion mechanisms to resistance to VEGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy. One focus of the laboratory is on characterization of costimulatory molecules related to PD-1 and PD-L1, such as B7-H7/HHLA2, that are expressed by kidney cancer, and how they regulate the immune response given their potential for cancer therapy by analyzing human tumors and using mouse models. A second focus of the laboratory is characterizing the mechanism of resistance and toxicity from VEGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor and developing preclinical models to expedite translation of new therapies for patients. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, dedicated, possess excellent organizational skills, be attentive to detail, and capable of forming effective working relationships with members of the research team with an interest in immunology, optimally experience in cellular immunology techniques and multicolor flow cytometry, and preclinical mouse cancer models.
