About The Position

In collaboration with others, carries out research/development activities on various products/projects. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. May exercise technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to projects. Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses. Must have working knowledge of the conduct of research protocols, and other more specific knowledge relevant to project activities may be required. The position requires a strong ability to communicate effectively with older adults and a high comfort level for working in a fast-paced environment with other collaborators. Must have the ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet study deadlines. Bachelors' degree and 2-3 years related experience preferred. Access to a personal vehicle and willingness to drive to participant homes or other HSL sites required.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in scientific discipline.
  • 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Access to a personal vehicle and willingness to drive to participant homes and other HSL sites.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency in using software programs to collect data, generate graphs and reports.
  • Professional, proactive, collaborative, conscientious and results-oriented individual.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Computer literacy required; experience with databases, Windows, Word, Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with writing procedure manuals, study protocols and manuscripts.
  • Ability to prepare abstracts for scientific meetings.
  • Experience performing literature reviews and online library research.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out research/development activities on various projects in collaboration with others.
  • Make detailed observations, analyze data and interpret results.
  • Exercise technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments.
  • Research activities include screening participants, completing the informed consent process, conducting functional and health assessments, setting up and deploying sensors for environmental measurements and wearable devices, and conducting at-home visits for follow-up or sensor troubleshooting.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses.
  • Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature.
  • Train, orient and supervise junior staff responsible for data gathering.
  • Function as field manager on designated projects, reporting to the Project Director.
  • Perform specialized research duties under the direction of the Project Director or senior staff.
  • Verify accuracy of study forms, update study forms per protocol, and maintain study codes.
  • Assist with formal audits of data, update procedures, and assist with Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
