About The Position

About URI: The University of Rhode Island enrolls approximately 17,000 students across its graduate and undergraduate programs and is the State's flagship public research university, as well as the land grant and sea grant university, for the state of Rhode Island. The main campus is located in the historic village of Kingston, and the Bay Campus is located in Narragansett. Both campuses are near major beaches in a beautiful coastal community. URI is just 30 minutes from Providence, RI and within easy reach of Newport, Boston, and New York City. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, perform field research and collection and reporting of data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or wildlife science (e.g., Wildlife & Conservation Biology, Environmental Science & Management).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in environmental or wildlife science field surveys and data collection.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
  • Ability to conduct field-intensive wildlife (turkey) radiotelemetry studies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing field research and collection and reporting of data.
  • Handle technical field instruments (e.g., scopes and binocular equipment, field collection of biological samples) required for completing field research work.
  • Perform other routine duties as required.
