The Research Assistant I position at Loyola University Chicago involves carrying out experiments as instructed by the Principal Investigator (PI). The role includes assisting with experimental procedures involving tissue or cell cultures, preparing reagents and solutions, and making direct experimental measurements. The assistant will perform basic lab techniques required to complete the project, which may include animal surgery, animal care, and Western Blot analysis. Responsibilities also include gathering, organizing, and recording data, performing simple analysis of results, and assisting with library and/or electronic research. The assistant will incorporate new protocols and methodologies into their work as directed by the PI and/or Senior Lab Staff, assist in ordering lab supplies, and maintain orderly records of purchases. Additionally, the assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly lab environment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
