About The Position

The Research Assistant I position at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the field of orthopedic and rheumatologic research. This role is integral to the research team, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, institutional, and departmental requirements. The successful candidate will engage in various research study-related activities, focusing on quality assurance of data for projects emerging from The Arthroplasty Service. This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in day-to-day research activities and patient coordination, thereby ensuring efficient operations within the research framework. As a Research Assistant I, you will assist in synchronizing research activities under the guidance of the Director, acting as a liaison between clinicians, research staff, and fellow research assistants. Your responsibilities will include providing administrative and study-specific support for research activities, which encompasses delivering timely reports to the Director, Institutional Review Board, Principal Investigator, National Institutes of Health, and other stakeholders involved in each research project. You will contribute significantly to Arthroplasty research through literature reviews, data collection and entry, and the development of Clinical Research Forms. Additionally, you will be involved in the recruitment process, conducting the informed consent process for low-risk prospective studies. The role requires a commitment to ensuring that research is conducted accurately and efficiently while adhering to all Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. You will also be responsible for facilitating the completion of all internal documentation necessary for research, including IRB applications, conflict of interest forms, and data collection forms. Furthermore, you will assist in patient care coordination, ensuring that research-specific protocols align seamlessly with the patient's clinical episode of care when required. To foster professional growth, participation in seminars, research meetings, and internal training sessions is encouraged, allowing you to stay updated on trends in the field of Arthroplasty research.
