The Research Assistant I position at Dartmouth College is designed to support the research and operational activities of Assistant Professor Shelley Warlow's laboratory, which focuses on understanding the neural circuit basis of motivated behavior using mouse models. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite in Hanover, NH, and will be involved in a range of laboratory activities, including conducting experiments, managing laboratory resources, and maintaining detailed records of research activities. The primary responsibilities of the Research Assistant I include performing rodent experiments such as stereotaxic surgery, behavioral assessments, and neural signal recordings. The assistant will also be responsible for processing and analyzing collected data, troubleshooting experimental methods, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols. Additionally, the role involves managing laboratory inventory, assisting in the onboarding and training of new personnel, and maintaining mouse colonies, which includes tasks such as mating, weaning, and genotyping. The assistant will be expected to maintain accurate laboratory records and apply rigorous data management procedures to ensure the integrity of research data. This position requires a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration, as well as the ability to learn quickly from direct mentoring and self-reflection.
