About The Position

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as a Resource - Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Effectively communicate with team members and contribute to their growth by sharing knowledge, experience, and skills. Stay abreast of changes in key systems. Serve as a resource to the department in specific area(s). Perform Laboratory Procedures - Prepare media, reagents, and solutions. Perform procedures and experiments as instructed by senior laboratory personnel. Maintain mouse colony (organize and breed). Take ear and tail biopsies of mice for genotype analysis. Collect samples as instructed; deliver or process samples. Perform DNA purification and PCR techniques for genotype analysis. Analyze transgenic DNA using Southern blotting. Perform computer data entry and maintain records. Maintain complete, accurate, and legible records and appropriate computer databases. Obtain accurate and reproducible results when using established techniques. Customer Service - Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively. Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Lab Administration - Assist with ordering and maintaining supplies. Maintain lab supplies of autoclaved items. Assist in answering and directing incoming telephone calls; take and relay messages. Use and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately. Provide appropriate safety monitoring checks for assigned laboratory (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.) as specifically instructed. Assist in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment.
