The Research Assistant (RA) position is located in the Laboratory on Social & Affective Neuroscience (LSAN) within the Department of Psychology at Georgetown University. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about understanding the social, cognitive, and neural basis of social processes such as empathy, altruism, and aggression. The RA will be involved in a variety of essential functions that support empirical research funded by a philanthropic gift to Dr. Marsh. This is a one-year term position that requires a proactive approach to research management and collaboration with a diverse team of researchers, including PhD students and post-doctoral researchers. The RA will be responsible for applying for and managing research approvals from institutional oversight bodies, coordinating protocol development, and overseeing participant recruitment and behavioral data collection. This includes cleaning and coding collected data, performing preliminary analysis, and interpreting results in collaboration with senior researchers. The RA will also lead and direct the work of undergraduate research assistants, ensuring effective data collection and participant engagement. Additional responsibilities include developing and piloting research protocols, coding and building surveys using Qualtrics, and assisting with the preparation of manuscripts for publication. The RA will communicate regularly with collaborators and manage participant compensation, ensuring compliance with research protocols and timely communication with IRB staff. This position is integral to the success of ongoing research projects that explore critical social behaviors and their underlying mechanisms.
