Job Purpose: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, provide scientific and technical assistance to complete laboratory based, clinical or population science research. May assist in writing research protocols and in manuscript preparation. Design and perform research protocols independently or as directed through training in more difficult or specialized procedures to meet the needs of the research protocol. Wayne State University and the Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences is seeking a Research Assistant in the field of neuroscience and visual sciences. Our laboratory uses the mouse retina as a model system to investigate the neural network and its physiological significance. The Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences is looking to hire lab personnel to conduct and assist calcium imaging, patch clamp recordings, immunohistochemistry, and molecular biological studies. Motivated scientists are encouraged to apply. Experiences with animal research are preferable. Research experience in the visual system and neuroscience is preferred but not required.
