The Research Assistant position at the Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine (CBGM) at Augusta University is a full-time role focused on supporting ongoing research projects in the fields of biotechnology and genomic medicine. The CBGM is dedicated to promoting interdisciplinary and translational research aimed at advancing predictive, preventive, personalized, and participatory (4P) medicine. The center's research efforts are primarily concentrated on the discovery and validation of biomarkers for disease prediction and diagnosis, as well as pharmacomics and drug discovery for personalized medicine. The successful candidate will be involved in various complex biochemical, in vitro, and in vivo laboratory procedures, contributing to the center's mission of enhancing healthcare through innovative research. In this role, the Research Assistant will be responsible for a range of technical tasks, including cell culture, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, transfection, and transduction. The position requires meticulous data collection and documentation, as well as the development and evaluation of new research techniques and procedures. The Research Assistant will maintain a detailed and organized laboratory notebook, analyze results, and assist principal investigators (PIs) and postdoctoral researchers in project experiments and data analysis. The role also involves animal handling and surgeries, particularly with diabetic mice, and the use of molecular biology techniques in live animal imaging. The Research Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the center's research initiatives and contributing to the advancement of medical science.
