About The Position

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Plans and implements research experiments, according to research protocols, to assure high-quality scientific results in support of applicable project goals. 2. Assists with assessing the feasibility of implementing innovations. 3. Assesses data trends and develops reports and presentations. 4. Supports the initiation of new research by reviewing and synthesizing literature. 5. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. 6. Assists in the preparation of scientific papers, reports, and manuscripts. 7. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM Department Specific Functions This is a joint position between the Abdulreda and Buchwald labs at the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI). The person in this position will be required to train in all aspects of the research ongoing in the labs. This person will be primarily responsible for the maintenance of the mouse colony, including the daily monitoring of mice enrolled or not enrolled in studies, such as pancreatic islet transplantation. This person will also assist in the transplantations, in vivo imaging of transplanted mice, data analyses, immunostaining in tissue sections, and other research activities as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Preferred college degree or at least 3 years of lab research experience
  • Preferred experience with rodent (mouse) work including colony maintenance
