About The Position
This is an opportunity to join a friendly and supportive scientific environment performing cutting edge molecular biology research related to kidney disease. The laboratory studies the molecular biology of kidney disease, including translational studies aimed at repairing injured kidneys. This position will be under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and will include performing experiments as part of the ongoing projects of the laboratory. It will include standard molecular biology techniques. The position will also involve managing lines of transgenic mice including immunohistological and molecular analyses of these mice. Additional approaches include next generation sequencing and chromatin immunoprecipitation. With sufficient experience, there may be an opportunity for the Research Assistant to take responsibility for a project. There is an expectation that the Research Assistant will read and develop an understanding of the relevant scientific literature and take part in ongoing laboratory meetings in which they will present their work. This position could be a steppingstone to graduate or medical school. It is also appropriate as a long term career position with opportunity for advancement.
