About The Position

RHI Magnesita is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Refractories R&D Intern to join our Research and Development team at our York, PA lab facility. This internship provides hands-on experience in sample analysis and reporting for plant and customer support projects. You will work closely with researchers and technicians in the Non-Basic Refractories department, learning key ceramic property measurement techniques to support failure analysis, raw material evaluations, and product development. Requirements

Enrollment in a technical, materials engineering, or chemistry discipline.
Desire to work in a research or manufacturing environment.
Willingness to learn new test methods and analytical skills.
Ability to work with high-temperature test equipment and in potentially dusty environments.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Perform post-mortem analysis of refractory products.
Conduct chemical analysis using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) techniques.
Test physical properties (strength, density, porosity, etc.) for various refractory types.
Organize data and prepare detailed reports.
