About The Position

The primary function of the Research and Development Assistant is to support the Culinary Artist with research and development of product implementation, modifications and development.

Requirements

Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Proficiency in data entry and experience with spreadsheets or database systems.
Ability to follow formulas, measurements, and written procedures accurately.
Basic knowledge of kitchen tools, food handling, or baking environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a bakery, food production, culinary environment, or R&D setting.
Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMPs).
Interest in product development, culinary science, or commercial baking.

Responsibilities

Accurately enter formulas, batch sheets, test results, and sensory data into internal systems.
Maintain ingredient databases, allergen information, and version histories for product iterations.
Prepare and update product specification sheets under the direction of the Culinary Artist.
Record test bake outcomes, process parameters, shelf-life notes, and evaluation feedback.
Organize, scale, and prepare ingredients for benchtop and pilot-plant trials.
Assist with baking tests, mixing, measuring, and monitoring equipment as needed.
Label, package, and store samples according to department protocols.
Keep the R&D kitchen clean, stocked, and compliant with food safety expectations.
Support communication with Quality Assurance, Production, and Procurement teams.
Assist with scheduling sensory panels, product cuttings, and internal evaluations.
Help prepare product shipments and documentation for customer presentations.
Coordinate sample inventory and maintain well-organized storage areas.
Track R&D supplies and notify the team when ingredients or materials need replenishing.
Assist with maintaining project timelines, filing documents, and preparing reports.
