We will look at coupling mesh-free finite element methods with traditional, meshed finite element methods via Nitsche’s method. We will explore how parameter sensitivity influences the convergence of the method and conditioning of the underlying linear algebra problem. Finally, we will explore ways to improve the performance of these methods. The goal would be to do a bit of theory based on graphs, but also validate the theory using computation.
