Research Aide– MCS – Austin, Allison– 2.2.26

Argonne National LaboratoryLemont, IL

About The Position

For the summer, Allison would be working on a log data analysis project. She will be looking into the application of multimodal deep learning models to predict job success/failure and how visual analytics can help experts understand how the model(s) make predictions. In her review of current approaches, she noticed that log processing before model training is a vital step in improving prediction accuracy, and she wants to explore how visualization can help HPC experts fine-tune analysis to their specific log data/system characteristics. Along with fine-tuning the preprocessing step, she wants to explore how a visualization can help experts better understand how and why these log predictions are reached from combining these complex DL models. As the complexity of these predictive frameworks increase, comprehensive visualization systems are needed to interact with and summarize model findings for non-ML experts.
