About The Position

The Research Administrator I position in UNH’s Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping (CCOM) supports the research enterprise, performing a variety of high-level administrative functions for the Center. This position plays a key role in supporting the Program and Business Manager(s) of the CCOM/JHC research center and associated principal investigators (PIs) by ensuring compliance, assisting with grant reporting, post-award support, and a complex shipping logistics and inventory management program. This position requires strong organizational skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to fostering research excellence. This position requires independent judgment in applying policies and procedures, initiative and follow through, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others. This position is under the broad supervision of a designated supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to business/finance or business.
  • 3 years of experience in grant funded projects administration, negotiation, budgeting or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with grant management and procurement software.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Independent judgment in applying policies and procedures, initiative and follow-through, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of college/university business policies and practices especially in research administration.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Knowledge of UNH Export Controls and Customs Regulations; familiarity with shipping regulations, customs procedures, and supply chain principles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to local, state, federal, and institutional regulations, maintaining compliance throughout the research lifecycle.
  • Support the development and implementation of asset management policies and procedures within CCOM, tracking and monitoring the lifecycle of assets, including acquisition, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Oversee aspects of CCOM’s rigorous domestic and international shipping logistics, including transportation, distribution, customs, and warehousing.
  • Track and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs paperwork.
  • Assist in the management of post-award accounting, including budget monitoring and financial reporting, maintaining documentation for a significant volume of grant-funded purchases, research applications and stipend requests.
  • Manage research related purchasing for faculty, staff, and graduate students, negotiate purchase agreements, terms and conditions, and ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Offer budget support, act as a contact for incoming inquiries, assist with internal and external events, and support campus-wide communication and stewardship efforts.
  • Assist with review, feedback and editing of research progress reports and presentations.
