About The Position

This position serves as a Research Administration Manager, providing research, administrative, and operational management for Dr. Jomol Mathew’s research portfolio, which includes the Real World Data Collaborative, Data Science to Promote Precision Medicine, Real-world Evidence to Advance Community Health, and other health informatics projects. Real World Data Collaborative consolidates vast amounts of real-world data from across Wisconsin into one easily accessible and compliant system. When fully built, the repository will include clinical data, biospecimens, data from state and federal agencies, and environmental data to provide a comprehensive view of Wisconsin’s health and tackle health issues in the state. The Data Science to Promote Precision Medicine project focuses on biomedical big data. The Real-world Evidence to Advance Community Health (REACH) program aims to use health technology in new ways and further increase research participation from communities across the state. The REACH Program builds on 15 years of research with a mission to improve population health and well-being in Wisconsin and beyond. The Research Administration Manager role is responsible for pre- and post-award research administration, including proposal preparation, sponsored research compliance, principal investigator effort monitoring and certification, budget development and monitoring, procurement coordination, and other research administration tasks in accordance with university and sponsor policies. The role serves as a liaison and subject matter expert among Dr. Mathew’s research portfolio, the Department of Population Health Sciences Administration, and campus offices such as Research and Sponsored Programs. Requirements

  • Experience working in research administrative role in an academic, government or healthcare setting
  • Experience managing research budget, IRB approvals and effort certification compliance
  • Experience developing and submitting required sponsored research reports, such as NIH research performance progress reports
  • University sponsorship is not available for this position, including transfers of sponsorship and TN visas.
  • The selected applicant will be responsible for ensuring their continuous eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without the need of an employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.
  • This position is an ongoing position that will require continuous work eligibility.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • May supervise the day-to-day activities of research administration staff
  • Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
  • May have authority to submit proposals, agreements, or invoices to a sponsor on behalf of the principal investigator or project director
  • Reviews and approves programmatic transactions spanning the life-cycle of sponsored projects to ensure compliance with institutional and/or sponsor policies and procedures
  • Executes research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance on behalf of a unit
  • Executes activities related to financial compliance, audit, or reporting on behalf of a unit
  • Monitors effort and salary sources of the Principal Investigator to ensure sponsored research compliance, adjust payroll accounting, maintains updated and compliance research information for NIH and other federal agencies in their prescribed formats
  • Provides training to faculty, staff, and/or administrators within the unit regarding policy, procedure, and/or execution of sponsored project administration
  • Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit
