The position involves performing general patient access and registration duties in EPIC Practice Management. This includes answering telephones, making appointments, processing referrals, maintaining provider templates and appointment schedules, and verifying patient demographics and insurance coverage. Additionally, the role encompasses general patient account management duties such as obtaining prior authorization for services, processing items in the appropriate work queues to complete registration, and entering service capture data. The individual will ensure that patient accounts and coverage structures meet Kaiser Permanente standards and billing requirements of various payors. The position also functions as a liaison to Patient Financial Services and the Health Plan, communicating with external government payors and employers as necessary. The role requires direct interaction with patients on billing-related matters and providing fee estimates for Kaiser Permanente services. There may also be duties related to cash collection and depositing, necessitating strong customer service and communication skills while adhering to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements. The individual may act as the patient's first point of contact with Kaiser Permanente.
