About The Position

The CWS Team Leader provides direct supervision to case managers in the Child Welfare Service area of Foster Care. This role ensures accountability of case managers by conducting case consultations, coaching, training, and providing support in accordance with DSS Policy, Agency Mission, and GPS Practice Model. The position also involves performing on-call duties and providing support to on-call staff. The CWS Team Leader promotes safety, permanency, and well-being by ensuring fidelity to policy and procedures, conducting case consultations and reviews, facilitating meetings, reviewing data reports, monitoring policy changes, and ensuring staff attendance in mandatory trainings. Additionally, the role requires ensuring the completion of Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessments, Child and Family Team meetings, Family Permanency Plans, and referrals in accordance with DSS Policy. The CWS Team Leader must ensure timely court packets are submitted, monitor adherence to court orders, and identify and address legal barriers impacting timely permanency and legal proceedings. The position also involves engaging and collaborating with child welfare staff, families, and other professionals, providing supervisors with EPMS planning and evaluation plans, participating in hiring and training of new employees, and maintaining child welfare certification.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in any other field and one (1) year of professional experience in a related field.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to transport children and adults.
  • Ability to lift children and interact positively with children and adults.
  • Willingness to work overtime hours, including weekends and during natural disasters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to case managers in the Child Welfare Service area of Foster Care.
  • Conduct case consultations, coaching, training, and provide support in accordance with DSS Policy.
  • Perform on-call duties and provide support to on-call staff.
  • Promote safety, permanency, and well-being by ensuring fidelity to policy and procedures.
  • Conduct case consultations and case reviews, facilitate meetings, and review data reports.
  • Ensure completion of CANS assessments, Child and Family Team meetings, and Family Permanency Plans.
  • Ensure timely referrals for services and least intrusive interventions are used with families.
  • Submit timely court packets and monitor adherence to court orders.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with child welfare staff, families, and other professionals.
  • Participate in hiring and training of new employees and promote equal opportunity.
  • Complete performance and practice evaluations on direct reports biannually.
  • Maintain child welfare certification and complete required training yearly.
  • Perform Red Cross shelter/emergency response duties as directed.
