About The Position

Are you an eager and driven reporter looking for the next step in your career? Do you strive to find the next best and biggest story that will reach audiences across the US? If you answered yes to those questions, then we just might have the role for you! We are looking for Reporters to join our growing US newsroom team, working across both News & Lifestyle! Reporting into the Assistant Editor, you will produce quality and exclusive content across three of our major titles; Mirror US, Express US & Irish Star, concentrating on US content. You will be responsible for covering stories in the US in a compelling and engaging way across either breaking news or lifestyle. Reach Plc is the UK's largest commercial news publisher. We're home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News. Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We've launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences. We are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams. Requirements

  • Enthusiastic and digitally savvy reporter with a passion for news.
  • Ability to maintain acute attention to detail while writing factually accurate copy at speed.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate a passion and knowledge of showbiz and entertainment news.
  • Detailed understanding of the US media landscape.
  • Possess a strong contacts book for exclusives.
  • Comfortable building relationships and trust with others in the industry.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Find and write exclusive stories and breaking news with speed and accuracy for our digital publication.
  • Attend forward planning meetings to coordinate coverage of major upcoming events.
  • Pitch stories to the editors on a daily basis with confidence.
  • Write factually accurate copy without errors at speed that is compliant with law and industry standards.
  • Understand and monitor key traffic analytics and use these to inform decision-making.
  • Conduct interviews with contacts, whether in person or virtually, building relationships and trust in the industry.
  • Be sent out to events as required, operating independently whilst on the road.
