About The Position

The Repair Electronics Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and testing FCI electronic and electromechanical products returned by customers. This role supports fielded instrumentation across a wide range of industries and plays a key part in maintaining FCI’s reputation for high reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent formal training and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in electronic troubleshooting and repair at the component level.
  • Proficiency using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, and other test equipment.
  • Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics, datasheets, and assembly drawings.
  • Familiarity with calibration and test procedures in ISO or AS9100 environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork in a cross-functional environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with instrumentation, sensors, or process control devices.
  • Previous work in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., aerospace, defense, or nuclear).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic testing on customer-returned flow, level, and temperature instruments using schematics, test equipment, and repair procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair analog and digital electronic circuits, including microprocessor-based systems.
  • Replace and solder surface mount and through-hole electronic components.
  • Perform board-level and system-level testing, calibration, and verification using industry-standard practices.
  • Document findings, repair activities, and test results using internal systems (ERP/MRP, Service Management Systems).
  • Communicate repair status and root cause analysis to internal stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Customer Service).
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations compliant with ESD, IPC, and FCI safety standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for repair processes and documentation.
  • Provide technical feedback to support product design improvements and quality assurance reviews.
