About The Position

As a Repair Technician, you'll play a vital role in keeping New Mexico’s rest areas safe, functional, and welcoming by:

🛠️ Performing repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building systems
💡 Diagnosing and troubleshooting facility and equipment issues
🧰 Training rest area staff on proper maintenance procedures
🚜 Operating and maintaining equipment (mowers, tractors, man lifts)
🏗️ Completing carpentry, stucco, concrete, and structural repairs
🌿 Maintaining irrigation and water systems, including pumps and septic systems
📋 Ensuring all work meets safety, cleanliness, and contract compliance standards

Your expertise ensures travelers experience safe, reliable, and well-maintained rest areas across the region.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 5 years experience in general trades
• Valid Driver’s License
• Must pass MVR check, General background check, and OIG/CMMS Exclusions screening
• Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
• Proficiency in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and construction trades
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
• Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely (vehicles up to 26,000 BVM)
• Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and reliable

Nice To Haves

• HVAC, electrical, or electronics experience preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish) a strong plus!
