About The Position

Under close supervision, following specific instructions as to methods and working details, must be willing and able to perform simple and routine work by performing manual labor involved in the transportation and salvage of electric transmission and distribution equipment, and become qualified to do the following related work as assigned: Evaluate condition of oil filled electrical equipment for transportation or disposal. Prepare equipment for transportation or disposal at multiple Texas and West Louisiana network locations. Determine if on site salvage load is cost effective and complete all steps to support. Inspects and operates powered industrial trucks and crane to safely handle oil filled electrical equipment. Properly completes Hazardous Waste Manifest and continuation sheets to meet DOT and EPA requirements. Provide storm support in the identification and transportation of devices for repair and disposal throughout the Entergy service territory. Become proficient in Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR) Testing. Handle and work from ladders. Maintain assigned company vehicle and tools clean and orderly. Operate Company vehicles and equipment. Complete close call / good catch reports per business unit goals.

Requirements

  • No previous experience required.
  • Must meet all above qualifications prior to advancement to Tech 1.
  • Within six months after employment, know Company's safety rules,- be certified and willing and able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be willing and able to render practical first aid.
  • Know the location of, and be willing and able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment.
  • Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil and other fires, within thirty days after employment.
  • Hold a current Class C driver's license.
  • Must be able to drive assigned company vehicle.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.
  • Be willing and able to attend and take part in safety meetings.
  • Be willing and able to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.
  • Be willing and able to receive and execute orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of superiors.
  • Be especially neat, clean and orderly in work and person.
  • Be willing and able to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner.
  • Understand importance of always rendering and maintaining first class, courteous service to all customers.
  • As a provider of essential services, Entergy expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.
  • Exempt employees may not be paid overtime associated with such duties.
