About The Position

SUMMARY: The Shop Supervisor coordinates and controls production activities, material flow and inventory to achieve production schedules and quality targets. This role directs and schedules daily activities of five or more shop employees. JOB DUTIES Plans, organizes and delegates work assignments in order to best utilize hours, skills, and equipment. Supervises and directs daily activities of five or more shop employees. Manages technician productivity; assigns work orders and schedules workload. Provides coaching and feedback to shop employees. Evaluates, checks, and signs all completed items that leave the shop facility. Provide technical guidance as necessary during repairs. Manage training and professional development of onsite personnel. May fill in for the Shop Manager as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Typically requires a high school diploma or GED Five (5) to ten (10) years of related experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of various metals and measurements used in machining processes required. Knowledge of machinist, CAD and/or CAM software required. Knowledge of mathematics and its application required. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods required. Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly required. Ability to read hydraulic schematics. Strong mechanical knowledge. Ability to operate shop equipment safely. Ability to perform all jobs within the shop. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination. Ability to lift 50 pounds or more and stand for extended periods of time. Requirements
