About The Position

The Sample Associate maintains stocked sample par levels, fulfills sample requests submitted by the Culinary Sales (CS) team, and tracks sample outcomes. They fulfill orders on time, handle product in compliance with food-safe standards, and manage communication with vendors and across internal teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year of back-of-house food service experience
  • Ability to read and understand invoices and other written materials
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume receiving/shipping environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team, changing gears when required
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Dynamics, Excel, Teams, and Word) and other tech skills, including use of email, multi-line phone system, and text

Nice To Haves

  • ServSafe or equivalent certification preferred
  • Experience with powered/motorized warehouse equipment (manual and electric pallet jacks) preferred
  • Bilingual communications skills (English and Spanish) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintains personal cleanliness and the cleanliness of assigned personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Keeps their work area and equipment clean in compliance with food-safe handling requirements
  • Checks the condition, quality, and expiration dates (“wholesomeness”) of sample items; maintains cold chain; reports any quality concerns
  • Monitors sample inventory; evaluates whether to create additional inventory based on factors such as item lifecycle stage, whether an item is part of sales promotion, and whether an item has exclusive or unique characteristics
  • Generates Purchase and Sales Orders for stocked samples, or “kits”; assembles and puts kits away in the warehouse
  • Handles email communication with sales reps; follows procedures and uses good judgement to respond to CS requests for non-stock samples
  • Generates and analyzes sales reports to track sample outcomes and make data-backed recommendations to the CS team
  • Works with the CS team to move surplus sample inventory
  • Handles vendor communication, including bill-back requests, working closely with the Accounts Payable team
  • Moves material both by hand and using equipment to and from the repack facility and warehouse locations; places items in assigned locations, ensuring proper FIFO rotation
  • Effectively and responsibly uses and maintains technology hardware; tracks use of packaging materials
  • Effectively and safely operates and maintains repack facility equipment and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) a. Complies with all use instructions and safety requirements b. Reports maintenance issues to appropriate personnel
  • Contributes to the team by performing other work as necessary
