About The Position

Under limited supervision, the Rental Technician is responsible for performing rental check-ins and check-outs, assisting customers, organizing equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe yard. This position emphasizes customer service and operational efficiency, with repair and maintenance tasks as a secondary priority.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Entry-level to four years of related experience and/or training in equipment repair and maintenance preferred.
  • Must have a valid Class C driver’s license and a clean DMV report.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle objects, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently climb or balance, talk or hear, and occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely rental check-ins and check-outs of company-owned rental equipment, ensuring a smooth customer experience.
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment and provide necessary instructions regarding operation and attachments.
  • Conduct visual and mechanical functionality checks on all rental equipment to ensure readiness and safety for the customer.
  • Maintain exceptional organization within the rental equipment yard, ensuring that equipment is properly stored, and each piece has a current check-out record.
  • Exercise great attention to detail, ensuring the accuracy of all paperwork related to rental transactions, which is critical to the success of the role.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the rental yard and equipment, including steam cleaning machinery as needed.
  • Ensure all equipment and attachments are clearly marked with company ID numbers and CMI decals.
  • Red tag equipment needing repairs and coordinate with rental coordinators on scheduling these repairs.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as adding oil and airing tires when necessary.
  • Assist in minor repairs (flat tires, blown hoses) as required, prioritizing safety and operational efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
