The Rental & Engagement Coordinator is a member of the Carl Gipson Center (CGC) Leadership Team, and has primary responsibility for three key areas at the Carl Gipson Center: 1) Rental Strategy and Execution; 2) Marketing; 3) Volunteer Recruitment and Management. The position also contributes to CGC operations by assisting with: Membership Desk; Events; Fundraising; and more.

  • Oversee & Grow Rental Program
  • Enact VOA strategies to increase revenue in all three areas of Gipson rental program: on-going rentals, one-time event rentals and commissary kitchen partners.
  • Recruit, train, schedule and supervise independent contractor Rental Monitors for one-time event rentals, ensuring proper supervision of all events.
  • Oversee rental events directly as needed, with an average of 1-2/month to begin. Note: Position may oversee rentals at VOA Lynnwood Neighborhood Center in future.
  • Parking Management: Serve as the CGC’s liaison to parking management company. With oversight from Operations Director, balance need for a positive parking experience for members and guests with Center’s need to generate revenue from parking lot during evenings and weekends. Address parking tickets.
  • Oversee Marketing Strategies & Increase Audiences in partnership with VOAWW Marketing Department
  • Environment: Monitor and update the lobby, window display and all areas where flyers and announcements are posted, taking down out-of-date materials and refreshing flyers when new events, activities, menus, etc. become available.
  • Newsletter: Manage layout, content collection, and audience growth for monthly Gipson Gazette newsletter. Work with VOA MarCom team to generate materials that meet brand and aesthetic standards.
  • Audience Management & Growth: Work with SchedulesPlus, MailChimp and Outlook to manage, organize and build audiences for effective, targeted communication. Ensure regular collection of new member, guest, participant and partner emails and other contact information, for consistent audience growth.
  • Webpage & Social Media: Coordinate with VOA MarCom team to ensure regular updates to CGC webpage and social media channels, highlighting upcoming events, updating menu of activities, and ensuring the most current information is available.
  • Oversee & Increase Volunteerism in partnership with VOAWW Volunteer Manager.
  • Recruit, interview, place, track and recognize volunteers, with a goal of regularly increasing the number of volunteers and volunteer hours, with a focus on volunteer Activity Leaders who can offer more programs and services to our community. Coordinate with VOAWW Volunteer Manager on recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Serves as a Director on Duty for membership desk, taking responsibility for 2+ weekly shifts. Requires proficiency in SchedulesPlus and Square software and knowledge of all Center activities, services and events. May require supervising Center on Saturdays at times. (8:00am-1:00pm)
  • Supports key annual Gipson Center events, including: MLK Jr March & Rally; Rise & Shine Fundraising Breakfast; Senior Resource Fair; Spring Tea; Red, White & Blue BBQ; July 4th Everett Parade; and Veterans Day Lunch.
  • May be asked to: fundraise; lead trips; assist with facility maintenance or project work; lead Center-wide initiatives; and fulfill other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Some weekend and evening availability required.
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proactive. Takes initiative. Generates results.
  • Ability to remain professional and calm under stressful conditions.
  • Is skilled at conflict resolution and problem-solving.
  • Speaks and writes in English clearly and fluently.
  • Pass a Washington State Patrol background check.
  • CPR/1st Aid/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Food Handler’s Permit within 30 days of hire.
  • Requires a combination of periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and periods of continuous walking, standing, bending, stooping, and handling of product.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Experience working in a marketing, communications, and/or promotion-related field preferred.
  • Experience working with seniors preferred.
  • Vacation and Sick Time: Vacation up to 200 hours, Sick time up to 108.64 hours
