Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic computer literacy skills, ability to learn/understand dealership management software.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and mouse.
  • Ability to look at various computer screens for 50% or more of the day.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers at the counter in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Verifies insurance coverage for all customers.
  • Addresses customer inquiries about the availability and cost of vehicles.
  • Makes reservations and explains the terms of the rental agreement.
  • Completes paperwork with the customer and collects payment.
  • Computes customer bills.
  • Makes changes and issues receipts to customers.
  • Reconciles cash drawer daily.
  • Shows customers their vehicle and points out any damages, scrapes, or special features.
  • Checks mileage and inspects for damage when vehicles are returned.
  • Works with department managers to keep abreast of new products, their features, and any changes in price.
  • Answers customer questions about vehicles, or refers them to someone who can.
  • Handles customer complaints with integrity and poise and, when necessary, refers dissatisfied customers to the appropriate individuals for resolution.
  • Follows up with different Accounts Receivable items for payment.
  • Reconciles the fleet daily.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
