The Rental Assistance Program (RAP) Caseworker plays a vital role in the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc., specifically within the Homelessness Prevention & Intervention Services (HPIS) Department. This position is focused on providing essential support to low-income families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities in Santa Cruz County. The RAP Caseworker will utilize a Housing First, low barrier approach to conduct outreach, assess client eligibility, and process rental assistance applications. The role requires effective communication with clients and landlords, as well as the ability to provide basic case management and financial literacy support to ensure long-term housing stability for clients. The Caseworker will be responsible for entering client data to meet program and contract reporting requirements. This includes providing office support, assessing client populations for eligibility, and applying casework skills to identify clients' strengths and needs. The Caseworker will assist clients by providing information and referrals, developing housing stability plans, and offering culturally appropriate services. Additionally, the role involves gathering statistical information for reporting purposes, performing data entry, and collaborating with partners for referrals and service coordination. The position is based in Watsonville, CA, with the expectation of providing services and attending meetings throughout the county, including working out of the Santa Cruz location at least twice a week. The Caseworker will work 40 hours per week and will report to the HPIS Programs Coordinator. This role is crucial in helping prevent eviction and homelessness through effective case management and support services.
