About The Position

The Rent Assistance Advocate at Our Just Future plays a crucial role in providing strengths-based family advocacy to individuals and families who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness. This position focuses on delivering services through Assertive Engagement and Trauma-Informed Care, helping participants achieve their aspirations by developing and implementing holistic goal plans across various life domains. The advocate will coordinate rent assistance, work closely with partner organizations, and ensure quality service delivery while addressing the unique needs of diverse populations, particularly those who are justice-involved.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social service/social sciences field or equivalent experience in social services and case management.
  • At least six months of case management experience or a total of four years in related education and work experience.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, and systemic issues related to poverty and homelessness.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and community networking.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally responsive services.
  • Familiarity with Assertive Engagement techniques and Trauma-Informed principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual/Bi-Cultural preferred but not required.
  • Experience in providing culturally specific services to African American and/or Native American populations.
  • Experience in providing services to justice-involved populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strengths-based family advocacy for individuals and families at risk of homelessness.
  • Conduct in-depth eligibility assessments and develop individualized action plans.
  • Apply program funds appropriately based on household goals and needs.
  • Utilize Assertive Engagement and Trauma-Informed Care skills in service delivery.
  • Perform housing quality inspections as required by funders.
  • Engage with households monthly to update progress and provide ongoing support.
  • Advocate for families with other service providers to meet their needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service activities and case notes.
  • Participate in community outreach events and interagency partnerships.
